Mother
This morning my mother left after visiting for a week. While we had a great visit, and her visits always seem too short, it feels good to have her gone and get back into my normal routine again. The boys enjoy having her here. She is someone different to play Sorry and Yahtzee with, someone different to have read you a story, someone who will bring you little surprises in her suitcase....yes, she spoils the boys and they LOVE it!
She plans to return in May. She is in the enviable position of being fully retired and also able to fly with a pass...paying very little but in return, flying stand-by. She makes the trek to Virginia twice a year from her home in Arizona...having moved herself from California a couple of years ago when she retired.
While she was here, I had her start reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. For those who haven't read it, I recommend it, especially if you like historical fiction. DG is a fabulous writer, in my humble opinion, and Outlander happens to be one of my all-time favorite books:) So anyway, as I was having breakfast and coffee with my mom at 5:30 this morning before she left for the airport, we chatted about the first part of the book. It was fun..talking about a book is something my mother and I have never done before and it seems as though she likes DG's writing as much as I do so this could get to be a fairly regular occurrence between us.
I have to stop now to pick up son #3 at preschool. Until later...
